Carlo's Cucina Italiana: Authentic Italian Cuisine in Allston, MA

If I could give 10 stars I would. The food is excellent and the service is better. My daughter is handicapped, and believe it or not people aren’t always welcoming or rearranging to fit her chair. I walked in, saw it was small, and my heart sank. I asked if they could find space for her chair and got the fastest “hell yeah we can” ever. Then they followed through and brought a table into the basement to clear out a spot for her while saying “it’s no big deal at all!” It made my night without a doubt, and the food was just as excellent as the service! The eggplant appetizer was phenomenal, the pistachio martini was delicious, and the entrees were HUGE portions and delicious. I’m so grateful for the kindness and the relaxing dinner. Go. You won’t be disappointed!

Overall it was a great dining experience, staff was friendly and service was quick. We really enjoyed our main courses, Penne con Pollo e Broccoli, Pescarese w veal, and Ravioli Antonio (lobster ravioli) along with dessert, Spumoni but our appetizer, Calamari Fritti wasn't bad but wasn't great either, it was the only let down of the entire meal.

We went there for a Friday Lunch and were asked to pick any table as we were probably only the third set of customers when we entered. Chris the server greeted us and brought us water and bread and also informed us about the specials. The bread was one of the best breads I have ever had. It was slight crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. We are vegetarians and ordered Melanzane Ripiene - the stuffed eggplant dish, Tortellini pesto with olives and Penne with broccoli, (asked for capers to be included) with creamy garlic sauce. All the items were very delicious especially the stuffed eggplant and the pesto tortellini. More people came in after us and the restaurant did get busier. The pesto tortellini said plum tomatoes on the menu and I asked for olives to be added but the dish only came with olives. From my side I should have checked whether the tomatoes would be included as well and I am not going to reduce a star for this. Chris did a terrific job in attending to all the tables considering he was the only one serving. Overall amazing food and honestly better than the North End Italian places I have tried. It’s the best Italian food I have had in the Boston area and I was happy that they had or willing to customize the menu for vegetarian friendly options. We found metered street parking on Harvard Avenue. I had a 5% cash back offer on my credit card for Carlo’s and that was a delightful bonus! Definitely a pleasant and enjoyable restaurant experience in recent times!

Delicious Italian cuisine. Generous portion and reasonably priced. There was only one server, so the service was slower, but he was great. The food was worth the wait!

When I crave Italian food, I crave Carlo’s. It is a quintessential Italian experience — the food, hospitality, and service are wonderful and the staff make you feel so welcome. I’ve ordered delivery from here a few times, but this was my first meal in person. The arancini are to die for, the Caesar salad was great, and the Fettuccini Marysa is unique, flavorful, and hearty. This is my favorite Italian place in Boston (and believe me I’ve spent my time in the north end). I will definitely be back!

What a delightful evening! As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, the host welcomed us with a warm smile and a charming personality. The host seated us quickly without much of a wait. Our waiter, who also happens to be the owner, was fantastic! His approachable demeanor and attentive service made our experience truly special. It was fascinating to watch the bustling kitchen prepare everything fresh just for us. We indulged in the day's specials, perfectly complemented by a wonderful wine selection. The entire dining experience exceeded our expectations, and we are already looking forward to our next visit to Carlo's!
